Research misconduct includes fabrication and falsification of data, plagiarism, image manipulation, duplicate submission and unethical treatment of animals or human participants.
Allegations are investigated by the editorial office in confidence. Authors are given the opportunity to respond, and where misconduct is established the journal may reject the manuscript, retract the published article and inform the authors' institution.
